I started making these adorable hair flowers for Sydney last year. After seeing people's reaction to them, I decided to try selling them. They are so fun!! You can wear them in your hair, clipped to a headband, or as a super cute brooch! I even love to wear them in my hair. They are so cute on girls of all ages. I have seen so many newborn photos with tiny babies wearing large flowers attached to headbands. This one is a three layer flower.

Cottage Wall Card set

Last weekend, I did a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation with Laura. She is doing lots of fundraising for a run that she is doing in April and when she approached me to help, I was so excited. We decided to do a card holder and assorted cards to go in it. Since the ribbon color for Leukemia is purple, I just new the Cottage Wall DSP would be perfect!! I was really happy with the way the projects turned out. I think Laura and her friends had a great time and were all really happy with the end result.

I will be offering these projects as a stamp camp in April (date TBD). If you are in need of some fundraising help, contact me today!

Altered Paint Can

I was approached by one of my customers about donating an item to the "Purses With Power" auction to benefit the Arthritis Association. Since my mom suffers from rheumatiod arthritis, of course I said yes. I really wanted to create something that would go along with the purse theme of the event. Everything that I came up with was too small to hold the items that I wanted to donate (a stamp set, catalog, paper assortment, and gift certificate), so I decide to alter a paint can. Micheal's sells these great clear paint cans that are easy to decorate with patterned paper and ribbon. I used my Daisy die for the Big Shot to create all of the flowers. I love how full they look when you layer different colors and sizes. It is so fun to create beautiful packaging for gifts using your stampin' supplies. I always feel that the presentation is one of the best things about gift giving. My two cents.....

Founder's Circle Day 1!

I was up until after 12:30 last night packing and working on my swaps. When I got up this morning, I was feeling a little anxious about leaving the kids for 5 days and about going on a vacation with 125 women that I don't know. I was really afraid that Will was going to have a rough time with me leaving, but he surprised me. He said, "don't be nervous, Mommy", then he took my hand and kissed the palm and said, "when you feel scared, you can just put your hand to your cheek and know that I love you!" How sweet is that??

After a long flight, we arrived in Las Vegas around 1:00 and then loaded into the shuttle for the 2 hr drive to St George. I was so amazed by the beautiful scenery and how wonderfully nice all of the other demonstrators on my shuttle were. Upon arriving at the hotel, we received our first gift, a new stamp set from the upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog!

When we walked into the dining room, my breath was taken away! In true Stampin' Up! fashion, the tables were beautifully decorated. As my upline, Catherine, and I were making our way to the table, I turned around to be face to face with Shelli, the founder and CEO of SU. I have never gotten to meet her before tonight, and as I knew I would , I started to cry. I was so overwhelmed, that I could hardly even speak. Like an old friend, she just wrapped her arms around me and gave me a big hug. She assured me that we would have plenty of time to talk throughout the weekend. She is just so sweet!

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner, and then headed to the lobby for the Rising Star meeting. None of us knew that we were going to be asked to speak to a large group about what we did to achieve Rising Star, and then they were able to ask us questions. I was so nervous waiting for my turn, but then as usual once I got started I could have gone on all night! (I know that is shocking!!) We finally finished up and I headed to my room (I am exhausted!). When I got off of the elevator, who was standing there right in front of my room?
None other than Shelli and her daughter, Sarah. To top off the amazing day/evening, I found a present waiting for me on my bed, another new stamp set, 3 spools of polka dot ribbon, and a set of In Color markers! Wow, I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

My little boy went to Kindergarten today!

Well, it is official, Will is a kindergartner. I cannot believe it, where has the time gone? Last night, I listened to him cry himself to sleep because he did not want to go. He was afraid that "they" would not like him and that "the letters and numbers were going to be harder in Kindergarten". This morning, he was upside down in his bed with his head under the covers and he said that he was going to stay in bed until 3:30. After much prodding, we finally got him dressed and suddenly he was not scared anymore. He walked into school and the classroom, and did not even cry when we left him! I cannot believe how brave he was. I am so proud of him.

Last night, I made this little sucker cover to hide in his lunch box. He wanted me to make a paper airplane, but I did not think that that would be such a great idea for the first day of school! This morning, he wanted to know what his surprise was. I wouldn't show it to him, but I told him that I had made him a card. He looked up at me with a huge smile and said, "you are the sweetest Mommy in the world!" He absolutely loves getting handmade cards from me. I used Sweet Centers, a new stamp set from the Holiday mini catalog (available September 1st). If you have not received a copy of it from me in the mail, let me know and I will get one to ya! It is such a wonderful feeling to brighten someone's day with a simple project created by you. I can't wait to pick him up and hear what he has to say about his first day of school!

Rising Star #8!!

I can't believe it! Last Thursday at Stampin' Up's annual convention, I was named Rising Star #8!! For those of you that may not know what that means, let me explain. Each year, Stampin' Up recognizes the top 15 new demonstrators ( demos in their first FULL year with Stampin' Up!). I went out o dinner with my upline, Kim, and two of "my monkeys" (members of my downline), Lisa and Ragan (also my big sis!!). We waited for the phone call from our friends in Salt Lake City that were attending convention (SLC is 2 hours behind, so it was pretty late!!). They called and I got to hear Kim repeat, "She is not 15, She is not 14..." until I finally heard her say, "She IS number 8!!" This was such an exciting moment for me!! In October of 2007, I set a goal for myself to make Rising Star, and it felt so good to reach it! As part of the award, I now get to attend Founder's Circle, a very prestigious retreat for the 15 Rising Stars and the Top 100 Demonstrators in the company where we get to hang out in St. George, Utah with Owner and Founder of SU!, Shelli Gardner!!! I am so excited to meet her, I hope I do not ball my eyes out when I do! I have to thank my family, my friends, and ecspecially all of my customers for all of your support.

Oh! The Memories!!

Well, the big moving day is fast approaching. For me, change is exciting. New places to explore and new people to meet! Even though I am excited about the adventure, I am sad to leave all of my friends and family. I have lived in the Raleigh area since I was in the 3rd grade (minus the 4 years in Greenville for college). My mom is here, my sisters, and many of my oldest and dearest friends. Since I started my Stampin' Up! business just under 2 years ago, I have made SO many new friends in my customers and fellow demonstrators! I am going to miss everyone of you. I hope that you all will stay in contact with your "Stamp Lady"! If you need anything, I will just be a phone call or email away, and you never know when I might pop back to Wake Forest for a class or something!
My stamps, paper, and inks are all packed up in boxes, so... no stamping for me for a while (boo hoo!!!) I wanted to share my latest scrapbook pages with you. These are from my Scrapper's Express club. Each month my Scrappers get an entire kit of fabuloust SU goodies and 6 12x12 pages designed by ME! All of this for only $25. I love to scrapbook, so this club has been so much fun for me. Even though I am moving, you can still join the club! I will just be mailing the kits and copies of the pages to everyone, and... I think Jenny even offered her living room so that everyone can still get together and scrap! (All scrappers know that getting together with other scrappers is half of the fun!!) I'm So Excited!!

First, I have to apologize for not posting more regularly. Everything has been crazy here with Corey's new job, listing the house, and trying to find a house in Charlotte! Whew! I do have to tell you how excited I am about this new catalog. I get excited every time we have new one, but this time it REALLY is my favorite! There are so many new and exciting products! Big Shot Quilt

The Bella Rose DSP is my absolute favorite! When I was in Salt Lake City last year at convention, I was so hoping that the "big announcement" was going to be a new line of fabric featuring these beautiful prints. Instead the announcement was about the new Big Shot for Stampin' Up! So, I decided to put the two ideas together to make this patchwork quilt card. I love the way it turned out. I only wish I could have the real thing to snuggle up under!!

To make the quilt, you need a 4 1/4"x 5 3/8" piece of Whisper White cardstock
on top of that, you place your 1 1/4" squares of DSP (it is fun to mix and match the prints!)
Then, you run the whole thing through the Big Shot using the Top Note die
you will then run it through the big shot using the texture plates #1 (large polka dots) it is hard to see in the picture.
I used a black journaler to add in the stitching betweeen the squares
I sponged around the edges with Chocolate Chip ink to add extra dimension.

Stamp-A-Stack

I had my All Occasions Stamp-A-Stack last week, and I think fun was had by all! For those of you that don't know, a Stamp-A-Stack (SAS) is a class where you come make 15 cards (3 each of 5 designs) and matching envelopes. I really tried to design simple cards, but simple is a skill that is very hard for me. I love layers, ribbon, and other embellishments. It took a little bit longer for the ladies to finish than we had expected, but I think (and I hope they do too!) that it was well worth it. Now they each have plenty of cards to send out. I also, really tried to change up my color choices. You will notice that there is only 1 card that uses Chocolate Chip! For those of you that know me, you know that that is no small feat:)!

Wedding Invitations

On Saturday, I went to the Supreme Stamper's Soiree. This is the quarterly meeting offered by my upline. It is always so much fun to get together with all of these ladies. The make and takes were all centered around weddings. Kim Allen put together the projects for us and the ROCK!! Look how easy it can be to create beautiful wedding invitations, favors, and stationary. Making them yourself can be cost effective and Stampin' Up! makes it so easy to color coordinate products to create professional looking stationary for a wedding, anniversary party, or even borth announcements. Birthday Fishes!

When the occasions mini catalog arrived in my mailbox, the first stamp set that caught my eye was "Just Beachy". I knew I had to have it! I love the facial expressions on the fish. This is the perfect set for scrapping all of those summer beach trips.

This card was one of the projects for my stamp club. We meet once a month and make 3 projects. If you want to learn more, send me an email and I would be happy to get the information to you!

To line up the fish, you definitely want to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig (a must have tool!). I lined up my whisper white cardstock (4x4) with the measurements on my grid paper to make it easier to center each fish with in a one inch square. You can't see it in the picture, but I also added crystal effects to the eyes.

Altered Clipboard

Each year at Christmas, I try to create a personal, hand-made gift to give to members of our family. This past year, I made these clipboard picture frames using Stampin' Up!s On Board Triple clipboards. This one features the Bella Rose Designer Series Paper. I love the way it turned out, and they were definitely a hit with the Grandparents. (How cute are those kiddos???)
